Private Training:

We are resuming all our private in-your-home / yard sessions.

 Your trainer is fully vaccinated.

If you would like to meet & chat about your dog's behaviour and training needs, contact Claire at WAGDogs.

Private training takes place in the comfort of your home / yard, or other location where your dog is most comfortable. We encourage you to read our philosophy to familiarize yourself with the kind of training we use.

We offer various services for all your private training needs:

1)  The One-issue session;

2)  WAGPups - Private Program (for very young pups, under 12 weeks of age at the start of the program);

3)  WAGTeen - Private Program (for all dogs and puppies - no age limit);

4)  A La Carte training for all pups and dogs (Great for refreshers or to add to your private program!);

5)  WAGPup, Daycare & Train (new program for dogs under 5 months of age).

6)  B-Mod (Behaviour Modification private program, all customized to your dog's needs);

1) ONE-ISSUE session (45 minutes to 1 hour): $220. Your dog has an unwanted behaviour but you are not sure where to start?  Let's chat on the phone to narrow down the bundle of issues to just one issue. Price is for 1 dog.

Note: this option is for ligther issues only. This is not a good option for dogs with high anxiety, reactivity, strong resource-guarding, or other serious issues, including running-away, or dogs who do not come when called.

This One-issue session is for the following mild issues: pulling on leash (no reactivity); jumping; counter-surfing; very mild resource-guarding (especially important if your pup is under 4 months of age); digging; puppy mouthing/biting; eating feces; attention-seeking behaviours (such as demand-barking); door manners (boundaries); crate training / house-training (or potty training for pups); wanting to learn more about canine enrichment.

For questions or to book this session, please contact WAGDogs.

Additional charges: Travel charges to North locations within Calgary city-limits apply at $25 per trip.

2) WAGPUPS - Private Program (for pups 11 weeks of age or under at the start of the program):

Did you get a new puppy and would like to start him off on the right paw? Start with your WAGPups program today!

Your puppy will be going through various stages of development until he is about 2 years old; however, did you know that the most important stage happens between 4 weeks and 12 weeks of age? By 12 weeks of age, your puppy's critical window of socialization starts to close.  By 14 to 16 weeks of age, the critical window of socialization has closed (depending on breeds). A puppy's development and behavioural standpoint are now established.  This means that after 16 weeks of age, a puppy loses his fearless - yet healthy - curiosity and becomes wary of new things. When a puppy is wary of new things, it becomes harder to turn him into a confident adult dog and it takes more time. Take advantage of that early innocence: start your puppy on our program very early on!

Our WAGPups program will be tailored based on the age and needs of your puppy. These are sessions all done in the comfort of your home / yard.

How to start:

  • We will first start with an initial consultation in the comfort of your home, so we can discuss your options, goals, and training plan.  The price for this consultation is: $150
  • Training plan includes handouts, any reading materials, and email support during your program. Payment with a signed agreement will be required to book your program.
  • Pricing is for one pup.

What will you and your pup learn?

-Based on the chosen program, you and your puppy will learn some or all of these following skills: Focus, Sit, Down, Snappy Recall, Walk-with-me (young pups), Loose-leash walking (older pups), Place, Leave-it/Drop, Wait, Stay, Jazz-up & Settle, and overall Puppy Manners and Boundaries.

-You will also receive guidance in these areas: Socialization, Cooperative Care & Handling, Solving Common Behaviour issues, Canine Enrichment, House training/ Crate training and playpen, How to avoid Separation Anxiety, How to avoid resource-guarding; What is PICA? How To Read Your Dog, and Confidence-building games.

3) WAGTEEN - Private Program (generally for pups 12 weeks and older, including adult dogs. No age limit).

Are you ready to continue your pup's education?  If you started with WAGPups program, the WAGTeen program is your next step!

Your pup/dog has boundless of energy and wants to play all the time.  Your (young) dog is growing fast.  Many stages of development are taking place, including another fear period that corresponds with growth spurt, and starts at about 5-6 months of age.  During this stage, often times, dogs seem to regress and forget everything they've learnt.  Your (young) dog's teeth are changing, his gums are sore...this is the destructive phase.  This is also when pups test their boundaries at home and their place in this world.  Ouch! These are not easy stages and you might even start growing a few gray hair, but training is even more crucial at that age so that your pup does not turn into a rebel.  Also important, is bonding with your pup. A good humane-canine connection is primordial for the well-being of your pup and to establish trust.

Note: This program is for dogs who are friendly towards other dogs or humans.  If this is not the case, please refer to our Behaviour Modification (B-Mod) program below.  If in doubt, please contact us.

5) "DAYCARE & TRAIN": New!!

What is WAGPups "Daycare & Train"?

This is a new program now available to pawrents looking for extra help with their young dog's education and safe socialization.  This program is entirely run by your certified professional dog trainer (CPDT-KA), Claire Cocheme.

If you are busy at work most days, or have no time to train your pup, this program is for you.

This new program is for young dogs under 5 months of age (under 20 weeks) only. The youngest, the better.  We accept pups as young as 9 weeks of age who have received at least one set of vaccinations.  This "Daycare & Train" program is available to pups until they turn 5 months of age (unless otherwise approved by your trainer).  After that, you are welcome to continue your pup's education with our WAGTeen private programs.

At this time, our private Daycare & Train program is on first-come, first-served basis, as we only take 1 pup at the time. It takes place in your certified professional dog trainer's private home just steps away from Fish Creek park.  Training, safe walks, play,  socialization, and cooperative care, will be the core of this program.  Your pup will be treated like one of our own, and, as the only "guest pup" of the house, will enjoy your trainer's full attention! We only take one dog at the time so that we can provide the BEST service!

How does it work?

  • You would drop off your dog at your trainer's home at a previously scheduled time (or, for an additional fee, we can pick up, SE and SW location only!).  During his time at our daycare, your trainer will take care of the training and socialization of your young pup in her own home and at safe outdoor location(s) previously discussed with you.
  • Any of these skills will be taught to your pup at some point, based on how many daycare passes you choose to get, and based on the age of your pup: Sit, Down, Walk-with-me (young pups), Loose-leash Walking (older pups), Snappy Recall, Leave-it/Drop, Wait, Boundaries, Impulse Control, Door Manners, Settle, Place, Focus games, and various Tricks.  Your trainer will also teach your pup to nap/relax behind an x-pen, and learn to be comfortable alone.
  • There will also be mental enrichment games and playtimes in the yard!   We also have a kiddie pool for hot summer days, so if your pup loves water... we'll bring on the fun!  At the end of your pup's daycare session, you will pick up your puppy (or we can drop him off to you!) and enjoy your young dog's newly found knowledge! Start your pup off on the right paw early on! Contact Claire today!
  • Your certified professional dog trainer will take care of everything your pup needs throughout the day.  You will need to sign a Daycare contract, provide proof of their first sets of vaccines, toy(s), and bring their food.  You will receive photos and videos throughout the day of how your pup is doing.  You will also receive a short report of how well your pup did on that day.
  • Do you want a well-educated, well-mannered, and well-socialized young pup ...but would also like to learn the skills taught to your pup?   Purchase a WAGPups or WAGTeen private program (depending on the age of your pup) and combine it with passes to our WAGPups Daycare & Train program.

Investment:

-$90 single daycare pass = up to 3 hours = afternoon only from 1pm. You drop off & pick-up your pup.

6) WAGDOGS - The BEHAVIOUR MODIFICATION (B-Mod) Program:

Does your dog chase fast moving objects? Bikes? Cars? Joggers? Skateboards?

Does your dog lunge, bark, and overall goes out of control when on-leash and when seeing another dog?

Is your dog a fearful dog, shy around people, and/or overall shut down?

Does your dog wag his tail when meeting people, but tries to bite them once they turn their back?

Is your dog afraid of being left alone? Does he bark/howl? Do you think your dog has separation anxiety?

Is your dog guarding his food or his people?

A little bit of information on what is a B-Mod:

B-Mod (behaviour modification) program is for dogs in need of extra help adjusting to your human world.

We use proven science-based techniques; however, a B-Mod plan is not a guarantee of success especially for serious cases.

Success can be slow and will depend on the age of the dog, his history, genetics, ethology/breed, health, and mostly, how long he's rehearsed the unwanted behaviour.

Success will also depend on how complex your dog's behaviour is at this time, and if there is a bite history.

A behaviour modification plan can be a full-on investment on your part: time-wise and financially.

  • Our program requires an initial consultation to assess your dog and discuss a training plan. The initial consultation is: $200.  This initial consultation takes about 1 hour to 90 minutes of your time.  A few days after our initial consultation, you will receive a proposed behaviour modification/training plan based on what was discussed during our first meeting.
  • The number of sessions will be determined on our first meeting. Price per session (may vary): $135/hour.
  • Our B-Mod programs require a minimum of 4 sessions commitment, or as determined during our initial consultation. All sessions must be used withing 3 months from the initial consultation's date.
  • Your training plan will include customized handouts and any reading material.
  • Your training plan will also include 2 months of email support after your last session.
  • Price may vary based on the B-Mod program required.

Let's start with a phone chat!  Contact WAGDOGS today and let's see if this B-Mod program would be the right fit for your dog.

Additional charges: Travel charges to North locations within Calgary city-limits apply at $25 per trip.
